Strange and challenging times brings the best creativity out of human mind. This is so true for photographers trying to find unique ways to keep their passion and business afloat while practicing contactless and social distancing norms.
COVID-19 has resulted in code red in Manitoba. This has brought complete halt to non-essential businesses and photography is one of such. I am a Winnipeg photographer and love to do newborn and kid photo-sessions. Without being able to physically go out and do any outdoors/indoor session felt like the end of the world, when it first began.
Slowly I started to think alternate ways how to use this downtime to maximize the art of creativity and use it to the fullest. Like any other photographers I do have a decent collection of photos taken in the past. Honestly, this digital age has been a boon in providing advance editing softwares and digital backdrops. Where every inch of the picture can be carefully crafted to give a complete new look.
Its that time of the year when snow starts to fly, and one hears the jingles all around. Yes it is Christmas season. With some knowledge of photo editing and a mind full of creativity one is easily able to try out some Christmas composites. Trust me it may look daunting at the beginning but once you start to put your mind and focus it can be the most relaxing and enjoyable experience!
Christmas composites works very well with subjects of all ages. I love to do newborn photography so obviously I started with some of those first. Slowly, I kept challenging myself by using pics from family sessions. Finally, I started advertising and asking clients to send their cell phone taken pictures. I was determined to give them a complete different look wrapped with color and vibrance this festive season.
It has been and continues to be a challenging year for all. To continue practicing the things I love to do and bring a satisfactory acknowledgment from the clients I continue my newly found love through contactless photography practice!
