A macro lens one would expect to photograph tiny objects and see the world inside. I have used here canon 100mm macro f2.8 to capture images of birds and fish inside a pet store.
Question arrises why macro and what was my rationale using a macro lens when I could have used others. Well I wanted to put this faboulos lens to try taking some indoor pictures in some challenging conditions.
1. Not adequate light within the facility to take detail shots. What could be a better alternative to see the details of feathers, beak and the eyes. This lens is fast and focus is tac sharp right on the eye.
2. Cage bars were obvious black thick lines that was between my camera and the subject. Using a macro helped me to get as close as possible to the cage, focus beyond the bars and dive deep into the details of the subject.
3. Thick plastic enclosures which compromises the clarity of pictures. Macro lens has the ability to generate some crisp and sharp pictures that do not need much post processing. It can also capture the wide array of colours and tease out the lights and shadows on a subject. The picture of the fish inside the aquarium is a perfect example.
This was an incredible hands on lesson that I experienced and learnt using Canon 100 mm L series macro lens photographing birds and fish within enclosures. The captures turned out unique and very beautiful.
