Family lifestyle photography holds a special place in my heart. As a professional photographer in Winnipeg, most of the time I cater newborn clients and kids of all ages. An opportunity for lifestyle photography is delightful and a breath of fresh air amongst the regular routine.
Lifestyle photography in my experience has mostly been with adult clients and what could be better this time- my client had two Shelties.
Sharon Hamilton, a retired school teacher, an avid traveller, an awesome writer, loves gardening and her two fur babies. Drummond and Shamus are two Shelty brothers and were a part of this latest photo session.
I am the in house photographer for Tuxedo Neighbourhood magazine and as a part of the assignment I did a lifestyle photoshoot for Sharon and her furry babies. It was a very hot day in June and wearing a mask makes it not so comfortable. Luckily, the photoshoot was outdoor in Sharon’s beautiful backyard.
When I go my clients house, I always like to take a tour of the areas where the photo-session will be done. A few test shots, to check the lights and tweek my camera settings accordingly are my very first step to begin the session. I find this is helpful particularly in getting to know the client, and surroundings to maximize the creativity and approach for performing the photo session.
Most of the shots were taken in Sharon’s backyard oasis and to finish off the wonderful session the cute furry brothers were allowed to take part. I have to admit that treats played a significant role making them pose in front of the camera. They were super excited to go out for a walk where I got some delightful shots.
As a photographer, I feel lifestyle photo sessions truly is able to capture an essence of a story. And as I always say it holds true this time too; my lens...their story!
